Things get steamy when a cool Brit meets a fiery Barbadian!

British entrepreneur Kevin Williamson, desperate to put some space between himself and events in the UK, travels to the sunny island of Barbados for a much-needed break. The last thing he needs is to feel an attraction for a woman who seems to embody the term ‘diva’, before he even gets off the plane.

Barbadian Kimberley Collins has lived a life in the spotlight as the only daughter of a prominent politician, her pampered existence envied by many on the small island. After three failed love affairs she realizes that she will probably never be loved just for herself, that the wrong men will always be drawn to her because of her father’s position and power. The last thing she needs is to feel an attraction for a ‘foreigner’ who may have come to the island to prey on naïve local women, to charm them with his slick Western ways and leave them heartbroken.

Can they overcome past heartaches and their suspicions of each other?

Soca Nights A Contemporary Black Romance edition by Lexy Harper Literature Fiction eBooks

I've been collecting Lexy Harper's free erotica stories for a while but haven't had a chance to read any of them yet. When I saw Soca Nights I immediately thought it would be an erotic story filled with sex and not very deep. Boy was I pleasantly surprised and shocked by the truly fulfilling story presented.

I'm from the Caribbean so I was intrigued by the island setting. I loved that Kimberley was down to earth even though she has a privileged life. I love that Kimberley and Kevin got to know each other before the relationship turned sexual.

I know a story is great when I try to slow down my reading because I don't want the story to end. This was a surprise find. I got it for free. I'll have to start reading those other shorts by Lexy. Definitely in my read again pile.

Soca Nights A Contemporary Black Romance edition by Lexy Harper Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

It held my interest, but it was a bit repetitive. I would recommend this book for someone who is interested in light romance.
I loved the contrast and it opened the reader to the various cultural aspects of Barbados as well as Britain
This was a free download which I had on my Fire for months. I finally read it today and completed it in one sitting. What a pleasant surprise. It was well written and I could see myself visiting the places described in London and Barbados.

Will have to write a brief review for School Daze too because that one by Lexy Harper was also a nice surprise.

Will be adding this author to my author list.
Loved the West Indian flavor even though some of the words were a little confusing). Well written and detailed and I'd read this authors books again. These 2 characters spent most of the story getting to know each other and wishing so honestly, I had a hard time finding the romance and definitely wouldn't put this book in the erotic section but for 99 cents, I'm satisfied.
I liked it. Different cultural perspectives and I loved reading about Barbados though there was few things I had to google. Will read more from this author.
This was quite possibly one of the best romance novels that I have read. The locales were amazing. Learning a bit about Barbados and London really makes you want to visit, and check out the places Kevin and Kimberley frequented. Kevin was just the perfect British gentlemen, and the tragedies he had to go through with his wife and child just had me rooting for him to have the best possible outcome. Kimberley was just what he needed, that ray of light. She really breathed life back into him. I'd highly recommend this book, and can't wait to read more from this author.
Soca Nights was a great read; although, I felt it needed more balance. In the beginning it showed the reader how Kevin and Kimberley were falling for each other and then toward the end, it kind of steam rolled the relationship and told us how they were falling in love. Also, a bit unrealistic on how Kevin and Dawn marriage declined because Kevin reminded Dawn of their deceased child; therefore, she wanted to be separated.

Book needed editing as well.

Overall good character development and story telling. A little long and didn't hold interest through-out the book, but nonetheless, still a good read. I'd recommend it.

Overall rating 3.75.
